Seven Slow but Sure Steps in a Low Carb Diet

How many times have you ever heard the reminder “take slow but sure steps”?  Maybe, you heard that more than a hundred times and you may even grow tired listening to the same words over and over again.  But, rather than turning your backs from people who give these words to you, why not try following them?  This is of great help to you even if you are contemplating to have a low carb diet.

Most of you plan to go on a diet to lose weight.  Some need to go through the procedure because of health reasons.  In some cases, you may want it to enhance your appearance and attract the opposite sex.  Whatever your reasons are for getting into a low carb diet, you should do things gradually.  Do not expect that you will achieve results overnight.

How to Achieve Results for Low Carb Diet

To reiterate:  it will be best if you undergo a low carb diet in a slow but sure way.  This is the best way for you to see the results.  Think of the following steps and everything else will run to your favor:

  1. Avoid drinking beverages that are loaded with sugar.  For people who are fond of drinking sugary beverages, try to avoid it or even eliminate it in your daily diet.  Sweets can give a lot of health disadvantages because it has insufficient nutritional benefits.  These will not even make you feel the satisfaction you are craving for.
  2. Practice eating plenty of vegetables.  If you are going to start a low carb diet, try eating a lot of vegetables because these are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals that will keep you healthy.  However, you should avoid vegetables which are high in carb content like corn and potatoes otherwise it will no longer be called a low carb diet.
  3. Practice eating foods with enough fat.  Do not be alarmed by this because when you are on a low carb diet you need fats to fill you up and make your body energized.  The bad idea is if you are going to eat food high in carbs and fats altogether.  You should not discard fat in your low carb diet because it is very essential for better metabolism.
  4. Be sure that you have sufficient protein in your diet.  Try to make sure that you have sufficient protein intake and do not be alarmed to add more protein in your diet.  You can refer your daily protein intake on the standard measurement which you can find in books or in the internet.  Be sure that your protein intake is low in saturated fat.
  5. The quality of the food you eat must be your priority.  It will be better if you will discover the best food for you and not the quantity you are going to consume.  There are a lot of food types that can satisfy your needs even if you only eat a small portion of it.  Separate these ones from those that cannot satisfy your hunger even if you have already consumed a huge portion of this food.
  1. Select brown rice instead of white.  This is an easy way to trim down on your carbs.  Try eating brown rice rather than white and eat whole grains instead of grounding it into flour.  Whole grains and brown rice are packed with vital nutrients and minerals rather than the processed one.
  2. Completely remove low carb food in your diet.  As soon as you have adjusted to your low carb diet, it is now time for you to substitute it into its higher carb equivalent.  You can now start to eat spaghetti made of squash rather than pasta that is made from refined flour.  Eat a pack of nuts rather than popcorn if you are watching movie or television.

One word of advice:  As you make alterations in your diet, you should pay attention on how you feel so that you can continue regulating your diet until such time that you discover what will really suit your needs.  Never do things abruptly as this may result to some circumstances that you may not handle.  Consult your doctor, a nutritionist or even fitness experts when needed.
